| The African Awards Banquet and Dinner is WISOMMM’s largest annual fundraising event which raises funds to benefit the WISOMMM Child Care Center. Since the first dinner which was held in October 2000, the event has raised more than $70,000. Each fall WISOMMM takes time out to celebrate and publicly recognize deserving sheroes and heroes in Essex County and New York metropolitan area.

Over the years, this successful event has honored men and women for community, corporate, social and educational service, political activism, entrepreneurship and for being strong African families. Honorees have included:
