Within the African American Education and Cultural Resource Center, the organization plans to open WISOMMM Event Services, the new for-profit business opportunity.

WISOMMM Event Services at the WISOMMM African American Education and Cultural Resource Center provides rental space for performances, small meetings, large conferences, intimate receptions and formal dinners. The WISOMMM African American Education and Cultural Center is conveniently located in the heart of Newark’s bustling business Renaissance area and Downtown Arts District. This provides our customer with an ideal setting for business or pleasure, and is easily accessible by car via Routes 280, 21 and 1&9, as well as the Garden State Parkway and New Jersey Turnpike. Several parking lots surround the facility.

The WISOMMM African American Education and Cultural Resource Center is perfectly suited to attract not only individual residents, but faith based organizations, community agencies, local elected officials and small businesses to rent space in this facility. The sanctuary in the historic landmark church seats 1200 and can be rented for weddings and other ceremonies. The auditorium seats 1500 and can be contracted for lectures, conferences, seminars and town hall meetings. Hunter Hall in the WISOMMM Cultural Center is a multi-purpose room that can be used for various types of functions including receptions, banquets, parties and fundraisers. Also available for rent are classrooms, conference rooms, a full court gymnasium (with locker rooms and showers), a bowling alley and commercial kitchen. From casual events to grand affairs, this multi-functional facility can accommodate the needs of the community.

WISOMMM Event Services will be the managing agent through which all rentals of this facility will be controlled. WISOMMM Event Services will also assist customers in the planning and organizing of their meeting/event. From ordering rental equipment, hiring wait staff, contracting caterers, maintaining meeting rooms, marketing and advertising available services, WISOMMM Event Services will be the responsible party.

Mission

The Mission of the WISOMMM Event Services and facilities at the WISOMMM Cultural Center is to provide impeccable service and excellent hospitality at a reasonable price.

Our Marketing Objectives include the following:

. Expand new customer base along with menu of services
. Maintain consistent and positive growth in scope of business
. Experience increase in return, long-term customers

Our Financial Objectives include the following:

. Continuous annual revenue growth
. Control of operation costs
. Assist parent organization to become financially independent

WISOMMM Cultural Center will allow for the expansion of rental services currently being provided at WISOMMM Mansion at 53 Lincoln Park. The goal is to fulfill the unmet demand for larger events, as well as the ability to host more than one event at a time. Our current facility is limited for commercial use, therefore limiting the amount of revenue generated. In our current space we average about 3 meetings and 4 large events a month which total about $5,000. In our new facility we can generate three times that amount. We have had many community organizations, government agencies and businesses rent the premises for a wide range of events and performances. A community-based organization also rented the facility for a Kwanzaa celebration in December 2004.

Competitive Advantage

One of our advantages over our competitors exists in the uniqueness of our facility. We have a sanctuary attached to our Center that seats 1200. Weddings, lectures and other events can take place in the Sanctuary and a reception in the adjacent banquet hall could follow immediately after. In addition, our Auditorium can seat 1000 for a lecture, and we can seat over 500 for a formal dinner in the multi-purpose Hunter Hall. We are comparable with our competitors on the size of our space. We also have excellent availability and are extremely flexible with our hours of operation. The facility can be contracted for conferences, seminars and town hall meetings. Hunter Hall in the WISOMMM Cultural Center is a multi-purpose room that can be used for various types of functions, and there are many different meeting rooms from which to choose. From casual events to grand affairs, this versatile facility can accommodate the various needs of this diverse community.
